Snow Disaster Hazard Assessment on the Tibetan Plateau Based on Copula Function

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the context of global climate change, Tibetan Plateau is particularly susceptible to meteorological disasters, including snow disasters. This study utilized daily temperature and precipitation data from 44 stations on spanning 1960 2018 construct a event dataset. Optimal marginal distribution copula function were chosen calculate joint return period probability, which effectively assess hazard disasters in region. Additionally, analyzed comprehensive risk under various periods by integrating social economic data. The results indicate following: (1) Based five different Archimedean functions, an error rate each station was calculated be less than 36%, significantly lower recurrence interval univariate analysis; (2) High-hazard areas are predominantly concentrated northwest region Tanggula Mountains eastern foothills Bayankara Mountains. As increases, spatial disaster probability shifts gradually “double-core” continuous distribution; (3) northwestern Karakorum two distinct high-risk for range expands with increase period.

Fractional Snow-Cover Mapping Based on MODIS and UAV Data over the Tibetan Plateau

Moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) snow-cover products have relatively low accuracy over the Tibetan Plateau because of its complex terrain and shallow, fragmented snow cover. In this study, fractional snow-cover (FSC) mapping algorithms were developed using a linear regression model (LR), a linear spectral mixture analysis model (LSMA) and a back-propagation artificial neura...

Influence of the Madden–Julian oscillation on Tibetan Plateau snow cover at the intraseasonal time-scale

The Tibetan Plateau (TP), known as the third pole of the Earth, has snow cover with intraseasonal to decadal variability that affects weather and climate both inside and outside the TP. However, the factors that generate the TP snow cover (TPSC) anomalies at the intraseasonal time-scale are unclear. This report reveals the influence of the Madden‒Julian oscillation (MJO), which is the most domi...

Declining snow cover may affect spring phenological trend on the Tibetan Plateau.

Zhang et al. (1) report that the Tibetan Plateau experienced a continuous advancing start of green-up date (SOS) from 1982 to 2011 based on the merged Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies (GIMMS)based with Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) [Système Pour l’Observation de la Terre vegetation (SPOTVGT)]-based SOSs. It challenged the previous contention that plants over...

Monitoring Snow Cover on the Tibetan Plateau Using Passive Microwave Satellite Data

Output from satellite-borne passive microwave sensors has increasingly been recognized as an important means of monitoring snow cover. However, employing a single global algorithm t o extract a snow signal from multichannel microwave data does not accurately monitor snow across all landscapes. One such region where difficulties occur is the Tibetan Plateau, where global algorithms overestimate ...

Fukushima Nuclear Accident Recorded in Tibetan Plateau Snow Pits

The β radioactivity of snow-pit samples collected in the spring of 2011 on four Tibetan Plateau glaciers demonstrate a remarkable peak in each snow pit profile, with peaks about ten to tens of times higher than background levels. The timing of these peaks suggests that the high radioactivity resulted from the Fukushima nuclear accident that occurred on March 11, 2011 in eastern Japan. Fallout m...
